Computer Makes Loud Buzz

Alright, this isn't really a problem, I just need a second opinion. Usually my PC powers on with the sound of the fan and that's about it but lately there's been a loud buzzing sound similar to when dust is on a TV and you need to clean the TV to eliminate that high shrill. Well, I'm thinking maybe my computer is dusty inside and maybe cleaning of the dust will eliminate this rather annoying buzz. Any thoughts?

You'd really have to open up the case and power it on, and pinpoint where it's coming from.

Well I have actually. It seems to be coming from the back what I don't understand is that it's a fairly new PC. I just bought it in September and the other PC I had for about 3 years never had that problem and that one was pretty dirty from the inside. The new one I have now isn't that dusty and it makes a loud shrill and sometimes quiets down only to continue. I opened it and tried cleaning it and the only option I seem to have is to get one of those compressed dusters. But other than dust, could there possibly be any other source behind it?

If the sound appears to be coming from a silver box mounted in the back of your PC, then it's the power supply or the fan inside it. The other thing that's common is the cpu fan. Look for it on your motherboard, if you have one, you'll see it spinning. Stop the fan briefly by holding it for a moment with your finger(it doesn't spin fast enough to hurt you). Did the noise stop? Those are the two biggest culprits of PC noise.

Yes, I have tried that as well, it isn't the cpu fan as I have stopped it and the noise continues. I think it's coming from within the power supply. I will try cleaning it with a compressed air duster. Thanks for the help!

If you have to, replacing the power supply is easy and inexpensive if cleaning doesn't work.

Well I tried the compressed air duster and you can still hear the shrill. Thing is, it didn't used to do that before and I just bought the computer two months ago so shouldn't replacing the power supply be out of the question? Would I have to clean it manually or is the sound harmless?

you should still be under warranty. power supplies are like anything else, some of them have problems even when new.
DON'T try opening the power supply to clean it. that is very dangerous.
