This computer I have has always had a problem of cutting off if you put a big load on it. Today i was watching a dvd on my computer and I clicked internet explorer at the same time and it tripped my circuit breaker. Before all you had to do when it kicked off was hold in the power button and it would eventually come back on. What do you think is wrong with this computer before i toss in in the trash and get a new one. It is a AMD Athlon XP 2000+(not overclocked) with 512mb ram, sound blaster audigy, 64mb video card, 8x dvd burner, dvd rom, tv tuner, and 2 external 500 watt amps, one for 2 subs and one for the surround speakers. and a 250 watt power supply.

250 watt power supply!! There's your problem. It is being overloaded and is switching itself off to prevent burning something out.

You need a more powerful power supply, at least 250 watts. They not hard to install but make sure you get a good quality one. Don't get the cheapest you can find otherwise you could end up back with the same problem.

Ok i will go out and buy a new power supply today. This power supply is the one that came with the computer, so i guess it is really cheap. Cheap enough to where it tripped the circuit breaker to the house. How did that happen?

Even more reason to buy a new power supply. Constantly being overload has probably damaged something so that it is drawing excessive mains current.

It doesn't take much to trip a circuit breaker. The slightest overload will do it far more quickly than a fuse.

That truely must be the straw that broke the camel's back. You've got all that stuff running and it only takes opening an IE window and the breaker pops.

You might also want to run those amps from an wall socket connected to a different breaker.

"64mb video card"

It might be a good idea to upgrade your vid card at the same time as your psu.
You don't need to spend a vast amount but a medium range card with 128MB would be worth it for your viewing.

Don't waste you money. Unless you are doing some really heavy graphics work like playing on-line games then 64 Mbs is fine.

If all you are doing if regular stuff like the Internet and the occasional game you won't notice the difference.

I am using a 32 Mgb card and it is doing very well thank you you. It manages 32 fps on streaming video which is fine for most people.
