Specs: Windows XP
my computer kept restarting so i changed the RAM from 256 MB to 1 GB. for a week my computer worked fabulously. the after a week it started restarting every 5 seconds. sometimes a blue screen shows up saying
i know this means that there is something wrong with the RAM. how can i fix the problem on my own. and if i cant then what should i do.

Download & run memtest86 to check whether the RAM is bad or not. If it is, replace it.

how do u reset the RAM?
remove it and reinstall it?
or reset the CMOS?

Take it out, then put it back in again.

You could try cleaning the contact edge on the memory stick. I usually use a pencil eraser, then wipe it with alcohol, allow it to dry, then reinstall it. But you can also try inserting it while the contact edge is still wet - popping it in & out a few times should help clean the contatcts in the slot. Make sure the system is turned off & unplugged.

This does not sound like a RAM problem but a Page Fault problem.
