Ive been having problems with my computer for a week now, and now it will not install windows at all, it will completly turn itself off when its gets to the point of pressing F8 on the windows XP screen to continue......

I have tested the memory in another board, i pulled out every card except the video card, i put in a 4mb testing video card that works and still have the problem......Then i noticed on my power supply that the test light would stay on and you could hear a ticking noise...

I replaced the power supply from a Stock 145 watt to a 250 Watt and i still get the same problem, it will turn off, not restart just turn off then you have to unplug the power cord and plug it back in before it will turn on again.

I called a shop and they said i need atleast a 350 watt power supply, but why would it come stock with a 145 watt????, my 250 watt should be enough to power this PC, i think the store i called just wanted me to buy something......

Anybody got any good ideas on what this could be, all the Caps look fine on the motherboard also.

The "big 3" are: weak PSU, overheating, or bad RAM.

If you just installed this Motherboard, most likely you didn't ground it correctly. Did you use the Risers (standoffs) on the places that the motherboard required them? You have to use them where needed and don't use but a couple of the metal risers one at each side of the motherboard.

i am also having a very similar problem it started about 2 weeks ago my computer would restsrt itself at random times it would happen every 3 days or so then last night it just kept restarting itself again and again until i ran it in safe mode which it was fine with, i used system restore and for an hour or so i was fine running in normal mode untiol it started again i then went back to safe mode and used system restore again to an even earliuer time and it has worked for about half an hour at which point i had to turn off, just wondering if anyone new what the problem is, surely its not hardware if i can run in safe mode just not normal mode, but i have ran numerous virus checks and nothing any help would be greatly appreciated
