My PC just broke down a few days ago. What happened was i got up from my computer and i came back and it was off. When i try to boot it all i get is spinning fans and no beeps or post, What generally does this mean?
Here are my specs
3200 64 amd
Neo2 platinum rev 2
2 x 256 gskill
500 w psu

Hmm..Try using one ram stick and then the other if the first one doesn work.. One of your sticks could have died. Other wise it could be the CPU, power supply, or even the board itself.

assuming you have an internal speaker you'd get a beep code (generally if it were ram or video). any chance it got to hot? what type of HSF are you running, did you apply thermal paste, what direction are the case fans blowing, etc?

Lots of things. My first guess would be dead hard drive. Did you notice any clicks before your computer died? Anything that could have caused it to die so quickly? How long did you leave the room for? What is the brand?
ASUS K8V-X
1 gig RAM,
Redaon 9250
AMD 64 3400 Athlon
Thermaltak SVKing Case

Hi all. Just wanted to say that the EXCACT same thing happened here yesterday. The comp crashed, and when it's turned back on with the PSU button on the back only the fans start, nothing else. Nothing else works (cpu, normal start button etc), doesn't start and can't be "contacted". We've tested wires but couldn't find anything wrong. Unfortunately we don't have another PSU to test with, but we've kinda narrowed it down to it being either the PSU or the mobo that's the problem.. Any thoughts or suggestions ?

Ive tested the memory and i dont think thats it. Im guessing its the power supply becuase this same problem happened to me a few months ago with the same PSU (called the company and they replaced it).
Eigard please post if you find a solution bc i dont have a psu handy either.

i forgot to say that no i do not get any beeps but my motherboard came with a thing that has four lights that light up to diagnose the problem and the lights indicate that the ram is decompressing the bios? I dont think this has anything to do with it and that it is only a normal step the computer takes to boot and its just stuck on it becuase of some other reason.
