computer just beeps on boot

Specs: Windows xp
Computer just beeps on boot.

Okay i had some old ram that i thought was ddr but turns out its ddr2. Well I have a computer that has 2 rams slots and 1 was being used by ddr ram and i inserted the ddr2 ram in the open slot and turned teh computer on, it came on for half a sec then shut right down and so i took the new ram out and only way for the computer to respond was i had to unplug the psu from the mobo. Then i tried turning the computer on and it turns on but gives no display and just beeps, it beeps for 6secs then doesnt beep for 4sec then does same thing 6sec beep 4sec nothing until i turn it off. what happened? would all new ram fix this or are allt he ram slots ruined?

DDR2 does not fit in DDR slot. You must have forced it. Post the make/model of your board. Check the beep codes:
