Computer freezes

Comment:
In addition to my existing 256 PC 100 SDRAM module, I installed an additional 256 PC 100 SDRAM module, purchased from Crucial.com. After installing the memory module, the system went through, went through its memory count and then proceeded to new screen where windows encountered a hardware configuration problem. I could not select neither safe nor normal mode, because the system froze. I remove the new memory module and tried to reboot the system. At first the computer would not boot up. Now I have the computer booting up, but it freezes after it does the first run of memory check. Subsequent reboot lead to the same problem or the computer freezes with the screen image being distorted. At other times the memory check freezes at the incorrect memory number. Instead of 256, the memory run will show some odd numbers. Please advise. Thanks.

Are you able to get into bios? It sounds like there might be a problem in bios. Check bios and see if the settings look correct. Sorry I couldn't be of much help. Bart
