Computer freezes, won't restart

Hello everyone...

My computer has been sporadically freezing up completely (to the point where ctrl-alt-del doesn't work). When I turn it off, it often won't turn back on unless I either unplug the power strip or wait 20+ minutes. Also, I get the blue screen of death sometimes when trying to turn it back on, but it is very erratic. I can post the error codes from the BSOD if needed. It has happened when using lots of different programs and I've done a virus scan, chkdsk, system restore, memory diagnostic and start-up diagnostic, coming clean on all of them.
The computer is an HP Media Center m8200n PC and I've made one upgrade to it in the four years that I've had it (new graphics card).
If you need more information just say the word.

Hope you can help :)

Possible overheating problem. When was the last time you opened it up and blew out the dust.
