Greetings.
First of all, I put this topic to hardware forum because this happens with every game. So, usually after an hour, some pixels on the screen go unclear, sounds stop and the screen just freezes completely. Then I just shut the computer from the power button. This happens only while playing games full screen.
This started after my old video driver broke and I bought a new one, Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT. I have tried formating my hard drive and install new drivers and older drivers but nothing works. I cleaned the dust inside the machine and tested the temperatures and they were ok. Still keeps freezing after about 1h of gaming.
I had this one instance where the computer rebooted itself after the freeze and back in windows the error said that I had a "stop problem" or something and it can be fixed by downloading the newest drivers. Didn't work.
Please help if you have any idea of what this problem might be. My friend told me it might be the power supply but he wasn't sure.
Thanks.

"tested the temperatures and they were ok"
It would have been nice if you had posted the temps.
"my old video driver broke and I bought a new one, Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT"
What model was the old video card? And how does a driver break?
The 8500GT is not a good gaming card...you could have (& probably should have) gotten something a little better. Before you installed it, did you 1st remove the old drivers? And which drivers did you install for the 8500GT...the ones that came on the CD with the new card or did you download/install the latest available drivers from nVidia (version 175.19) ?

Ahh sorry, I messed up with drivers and video cards...
My old vide card was Nvidia Geforce 6600 and it was the one that broke. I first tried 8500 with the newest drivers and as it kept freezing my friend told me to try downloading older drivers. Neither of them fixed the problem.

And about the temperatures.
Speed fan says Ambient: 35C
Remote1: 16C
Remote2: 116C
HDO: 41C
Core: 34C
Core: 46C
Ambient: 0C
And those were the temperatures while I was playing. I wonder what that remote2 means...

What exactly happened to the 6600? And was it a plain 6600 or a 6600GT? If it was a plain 6600, the 8500GT was an improvement...if it was a 6600GT, the performance level is just about the same. See the following table:

If you don't have CCleaner, I suggest you download it, install it & run it regularly. Here's two tips about the installation:
1. make sure to uncheck the box next to Yahoo toolbar (last item on the list) so that it doesn't get installed. And if by any chance you already have it installed, get rid of it or any other toolbars that you may have such as Google. They are spy programs.
2. when you 1st open CCleaner, look at the list on the left side of the window. Uncheck the box next to "empty recycle bin". IMO, it's better to have manual control of he recycle bin. I use CCleaner several times a day...I run it after every internet "session".

You should also run regular virus & spyware scans, plus you should disable unnecessary crap from loading at startup. Try running MSCONFIG:

How about posting those temps...system & CPU, both at idle & under load.
EDIT: I see you posted the temps while I was typing this out. Find another temp monitoring program.
This isn't actually a monitoring program, but it does provide temp readings, plus system info. You can use it to load test your system to see if it locks up:

The 6600 was a plain 6600. I doubt I have any viruses or spyware since I formated my hard drive completely 2 days ago. The idle temperatures are only a bit lower than those under load. And thanks for the help already :)

I don't know. My computer just crashed one day and windows did not start anymore. Screen was just black when I tried to start the computer. Then I took it to one shop to be fixed and they said that the video card was broken and installed the 8500.

At the moment I am pretty sure it's either overheating or my power supply, as I found a topic where someone had exactly the same problem as I.
Here it is http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/PC-c...

"Remote2: 116C is it ok?"
I have no idea what that is, that's why I recommended you try another monitoring program.
"I found a topic where someone had exactly the same problem as I"
That was with an 8800GTS which is miles higher on the chart than your 8500GT, so it's not exactly the same thing.

Any info in event viewer to help?
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10
