Reply: (edit)Does the fan on your vid card have an external connector to the fan? If it does, then don't assume the card is working. Try re-seating the vid card. AGP cards require a good amount of force before snapping into place. First thing to do when troubleshooting is to strip the machine down to the bare essentials. MB, processor w/heatsink & fan, 1 stick of ram, video card, HD. Make sure to re-seat the video card, memory and that you have a case speaker connected correctly. Try that and if no boot, post back with any audible beep codes. If no codes, try removing the MB from the case and booting outside the case to eliminate the possiblity of a short to case.

Reply: (edit)Ive done that, no help. The vid card does have an external power connection which is hooked up to the power supply. My ram seems to be working now because before the led lights were not turning on, but now they are. Weird. But please help me, because it still aint working.

Reply: (edit)Are there any jumpers on the board? If so, make sure they are set properly. Try clearing the CMOS with the jumper. Do that while the power is unplugged. What MB do you have? Does the MB require another power connector to the MB like the P4? I'm not familiar with Athlon64 MBs. Do you have another video card that you can try to post with? Possibly a PCI card. Are you positive the vid card is fully inserted?

Reply: (edit)The only place that we can place jumpers on the board is when you want to clear the CMOS and another feature called wake on usb. I have an Asus SK8N mobo. I may be able to get another vid card but it wont be anytime soon, ill have to wait till my bro arrives and its not a pci card. The mobo requires the normal power connector plus a 12v power connector which is hooked up correctly, and i am absolutely positive the the vid card is in right, i took it out, then forced it in till it click and was locked in place, then i screwed it on the back. I took out the battery , with the power off, then reseted the CMOS, but nothing new when i booted it back up.

Reply: (edit)Are you getting one beep on post? You say the LED lights are turning on, do you mean on the MB or the case? If MB, do they stay on? Do you have access to any other ram?

Reply: (edit)Yea, i am getting a beep everytime i start it up. The led on the mobo and the case lights are on all the time. i dont have access to more ram, but im pretty sure that the ram is working cuz i got 2 sticks of 512 each with there own led lights which do turn on when the system is powered on. And yes, i have my cpu fan hooked up to a socket called CPU_FAN1.

Reply: (edit)Well, I think the single beep indicates the CPU is working and you say the memory has leds on it, so that leaves the video card or monitor. The monitor is turned on isn't it. I know, stupid question. I don't know anything about the nForce3 chipset, but nForce2 MBs are fussy about the ram that will work. The problem is common enough that the MB manufacturers are posting the brands and densities of ram they have tested. Maybe the smae holds true for nForce3. Just because you have an LED, does not mean the memory is functioning properly. Just that it is powered. I'm not saying the ram is bad, just may be incompatible. That is why I suggested you try only 1 stick.
