Solved Computer doesn't start when installing second RAM!

December 31, 2012 at 12:06:57
Specs: Windows 7, AMD Phenom II / 4 gigs
I have a Biostar N68s3B motherboard with 4GB of RAM installed right now. Recently I bought another RAM (here's the link- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0... and when I installed it, the computer doesn't boot up... the monitor just stays black. What should I do? Did I get the wrong type of RAM?

Seems like it's defective.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Is it exactly the same as the other 4GB stick? Did you try the new stick all by itself to see if it works?

Yes, I did. And the name is exactly as the other one was, the only difference is that it has different version numbers like ver2.12 and ver8.10, but other than that the rest is the same.

So they are both Corsair XMS3, DDR3-1333, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v? What happened when you tried the new stick by itself? Any beeps? Did you try it in both slots?

They both are Corsair xMS3, DDR3-1333,9-9-9-24, 1.5v. When I tried the new stick by itself, the computer didn't boot up and the monitor was black. There were no beeps. I also tried it in both slots and it didn't work, but the one I had before the newest one worked.
