Computer doesnt recognize my monitor

September 25, 2011 at 15:32:39
Specs: Windows Vista
I have 2 monitors hooked up to my computer. I have the GEforce 8400 gs video card in the hardrive. There is where my second monitor is hooked into with a white dvi cable.
My second monitor died the other day so when I went to unplug it out of the computer the video card fell out of the slot. I put it back in, and hooked up a new monitor. Now when I start up my system, i get a message on my main monitor that says i have a video card in, but no monitor installed. Why doesnt my computer recognize the monitor now?

Any idea on how to fix this?? Please give this to me in lamens terms! =)

So you've got two monitors attached? When you start up the computer with just a good monitor attached to the video card, does it go ahead and boot into windows? If not, does any of the normal stuff show up on the screen--system logo or posting screen?

If all you get is the error message you may have damaged the video card or motherboard.
