Hello,
After seeing computer clustering on The Screen Savers, and the Beowulf project, I was wondering what hardware I would need to purchase to get a FreeBSD (or Linux) cluster of maybe 4 computers and if there is a good website that actually says HOW to do it?

Thanks!

Unless you have programs optimized specifically for clustering, you probably want OpenMOSIX on Linux, which can distribute all processes over all nodes. Any hardware you can network will work. If you actually want to buy computers and build a cluster, don't waste money on large hard drives (depending on how you set up the cluster, you may not even need hard drives), get gigabit ethernet, and find the best price/performance CPUs.

OpenMOSIX-based ClusterKnoppix is probably the easiest way to get started.

Jake: So I don't actually need specific hardware to cluster, just ethernet and something like the OpenMOSIX kernel? (Though it would be nice to set up a rack of clusters with probably FlexATX motherboards).

Correct, the hardware is no different than standard PCs/servers.
