Check in your BIOS, if it is not recognized there then either the hard drive is bad or the cable connecting it is bad. If it is an IDE drive, then you may also need to set your jumper correctly.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Was it working & then stopped being detected? or did you just install it?
