Complete Size of RAM Not Detected/Used

Specs: Windows Vista, MicroStar Int.; MS-7222
My computer had a DDR2 PC2-4300 (266MHz) 512Mb Corsair before. I add it with DDR2 PC2-4300 (266MHz) 1024Mb Kingston this year. When I turn on my PC, the memory testing displayed only 1022 Mb of RAM. The 512 Corsair had no problem when I tested them 1 by 1 but 1024Mb Kingston had. Instead of displaying 1024Mb, it displayed 510Mb. I tested it with CPU-Z but it displayed the exact size correctly. And the worst part is, whatever the result of size in memory testing, it is also the same size used in Windows. Sometimes, I receive numbers of long beeps during startups and also receives 510Mb size only. Do brands affect the size of RAM? Is it advisable to use 2 different size of 2 different brands of RAM? Why do you think this is happening? What could be the solution so that my PC can use the complete 1533Mb size of RAM?

In addition, my motherboard can support 1024Mb of RAM per slot. In my MSI manual, it states that the maximum size of RAM it can use is only 2GB (2048Mb).
