Comment:

Can anyone tell me if different brand makes of ram, are compatible with each other? For instance I have fitted CRUCIAL PC 3200 400MHZ 512mb ram, and wish to upgrade another 512mb ram stick, would I have to buy another CRUCIAL ram stick of the same brand? or are all brands compatible? So long as its a PC 3200 400mhz 512mb stick, will it matter who makes it?

Many thanks Swifty.

it doesn't really matter as long as they both are PC 3200, but although i would recommend getting both Crucial's for better performance.

Is there any noticable difference, if you don't use the same stick of ram?

I would never suggest mixing brands of ram.
If you want them to workfor sure they should be the same make and the same model #.

Thanks for all the replys, but i seem to be getting a varied opinion, on this issue. Killer, i have not as yet fitted any more ram, so i would not know. But casting opinions aside, would different brands of ram conflict with each other? does it HAVE TO BE the same make?
Many thanks for all your replys, and opinions, they are all very much appreciated.

Swifty.

IF they do the same thing have the same specifications then I don't think that there is any reason to get the same brand. LOL

I have already added 512 Ram for my laptop. I didn't even bother about getting the same Ram brand. I just went took the specifications and added 512 ram, now I have 1GB of ram, and it works very good. NO PROBLEMO! LOL,

:),

So there is no noticable change in performance, actually the laptop has become a lot faster.

I mix different brands of the same speed all the time. You "may" run into problems in dual channel mode though...it depends on how close their specs are
