CPU/Ram: Duo Core E6750 / 2 gigs M

Hello everyone,

i am building a computer out of a few parts from my last computer and upgrading to the new core2duo processor.

before i get too far into this, here is what i'm building with:

Motherboard: ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 Board (1066mhz FSB)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz (1333mhz FSB)
Memory: 2 Gigs Mushkin PC3200 DDR400 RAM (1gig x 2)
Video Card: PCIeXpress NVidia 7800 GT
Onboard Sound , LAN

My problem is when I have everything plugged in, I get no video whatsoever. When the system was powered on, it immediately spun all fans, and everything seemed normal. harddrives spun without a problem, and the keyboard and mouse (USB) both activated, keyboard responding to caps lock, etc.

I'm wondering if there is a known issue with any of my hardware and this board. i chose this board of course because i did not want to throw $200+ worth of RAM away.

My main question is...the processor FSB is rated as stated at a 1333mhz and the MoBo FSB is rated at 1066mhz...would this cause me to not have any video?

I contacted newegg and got a replacement mobo and processor overnighted, should be in today, and immediately after placing the replacement order, i noticed that the FSBs were rated differently...so...if i need to get another processor i will...before opening the box and ruining packaging. (a processor like the E6600, which is rated at 1066mhz, i can)if anyone has any suggestions, or if it sounds like my board (or processor) is bad, please advise. i've put together many computers successfully and this one has me stumped. thanks so much!

http://www.asrock.com/mb/vga.asp?Mo... lists supported video cards and I didn't see yours listed.

Why would you get a 1333MHz FSB CPU if you knew the board only supports up to 1066MHz? And why would you use PC3200 (DDR400) RAM which runs MUCH slower than the CPU bus?

For a 1333MHz FSB CPU, you need at least DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) & for a 1066MHz FSB CPU, you need at least DDR2-533 (PC2-4200). Most people just buy DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) & clock it down to run in sync with the CPU.

Your problem is the CPU isn't supported by your motherboard:

You either need to replace the board or replace the CPU. But you also need different RAM. BTW, you don't throw RAM away...you sell it!
