this may be a dumb question, i've bought an amd 1700+ cpu and was wondering if i could put a new motherboard in my compaq 5304 case. the boss will not let me have a new computer and i was hoping to use this case to get past her?

Compaq cases are proprietary designs so you can't put a standard motherboard in them. Besides that since it is not your computer you would be responsible for any damage done to it.

Still it probably won't fit, but you can tell by checking the back of the computer.
I would just get an ATX case to put it in.

agree with Joe about the case. Bestbuy has Antec's for $50 and up (best cases made)

its got a gigabyte micro atx m/b in it now so i'll replace it with a new one and update the power supply and she'll never know the difference but thaks for trying to help, i just cracked it open instead
