I have a MAJOR problem with compaq at the moment, on Wed my machine needed to be restored so I followed the directions and put my Quick Restore disk in and followed the prompts. Problem is that the machine had just formatted the hard drive then it would not go any further. So I have a machine with no operating system on it so it's useless. I phoned compaq and sent emails through their web site (still waiting for replys from the emails even though it claimes on their automated response that you get a reply from a Tech usually within 4 business hours). Got passed on to loads of people, got given loads of different numbers to ring. Until I got someone who had a bit of sense and tried to help.
Here is the problem my machine is a Compaq 100c and the quick restore disks are compaq model 5000 (so they gave me the wrong disks). I need the disks for the 100c so I can get my machine back and one of their responses was that I have to send it to Christchurch to get it reloaded, asked what would I have to do if it needs restoring again response Send it to Christchurch again. If I have paid for the restore disks then do I not have the right to have the restore disks, it is not my fault that they sent the incorrect restore disks with the system.
What can I do, can I demand that a copy of the 100c Restore Disks be sent to me or do I just have an expensive dust collector?

Go to newegg.com and buy a windows 98 O.S. CD for about $100.00. When you get to their home page and click on software tab and choose shop by category. When you order it, it will be on your doorstep in 3 days.

Just Windows 98 alone won't help. You also need the drivers for the Compaq 100c.

Look for the Compaq 100c drivers on the internet after ordering Windows 98.
