My Compaq Presario 1694 laptop will power-up, but it won't boot. Doesn't even make it to the "Compaq" P.O.S.T. logo -- unless I cycle the power a few dozen times (power button, wait... hold power for 5 seconds, repeat).
Would replacing the $24 DC converter board do the trick? I was under the impression it was just for charging the battery (it's also a LONG way from the power adapter plug).
