Reply: (edit)I'm no expert but if your not getting any beep codes then the problem is probably something basic. I’d check to make sure all hardware is seated properly, and check your cable connections.

Reply: (edit)I have the EXACT same problem with a Compaq Presario 5360. I removed the vidcard so I could use the onboard vid, then I reset the BIOS. Since then I get a blank screen just like you, no beeps. I have tried EVERYTHING. Very hard to get Compaq support (no wonder they went belly up!) I know this is no help to you, but perhaps we could team up on this one. I've played with many puters, but this has me stumped. John.

Reply: (edit)did you try reseating the RAM? I've had this happen numerous times, get nothing at all, when the RAM isnt fully seated. that can cause no video either, and with some systems the lack of any beeps as well. just a thought, before you try a new psu, if you have a meter check the voltages on the mobo connector.

Reply: (edit)to clarify on that, pull the RAM modules ou then replug them, don't just push on them, sometimes dust gets on the connectors and it fails to register. good luck

Reply: (edit)Did you replace your mobo? Have you had any problems since? I have a 5000 series and I replaced the mobo and now about every third time I go to start it, nothing happens when I push the power button.

Reply: (edit)I just had the same problem. There appears to be a short on the motherboard. The technician took out the motherboard and reinstalled and it worked for a few days, now the same thing. Believe it or not, I just jiggled the USB connection on the back of the computer and the computer booted while I was doing it. It was either the USB port or I moved the motherboard enough to remove the short? Just a suggestion.

Reply: (edit)What is this? A new trend? Yesterday this happened to me also!!! I installed a second HDD to my Presario 5000 (5wv294) series and it was working fine. Then I shut down the computer to close the case and then put it back under my desk, turn it on, and NOTHING... Leds come up, HDD's spin up, Keyboard leds work... JUST NO VIDEO!!!! Some friends told me that the BIOS must have gone nuts, but with no video there is no way to upgrade BIOS. I have not tried to reset the BIOS through the pin on the MoBo (if there's any)... I will try that tonight... I will let you know. Rayan
