I have a compaq here, it will turn on and everything will boot up but nothing comes up on the monitor. The monitor is in good working order, ive tried 4-5 diffrent video cards and useing diffrent ports and still nothing. It use to work, untill i decided to unplugg it for about 6months and now when i find the use for it again it just wont work, can anyone help???

Hi,This is not expert edvice but have you checked the fuse on the monitor plug? Does the monitor receive power? Also check to see if the cable from the CPU to the monitor doesn't touch any other power lines - I've seen several monitors which went berserk when the VGA cable touched a power cable. Can't think of any other solutions except to have the monitor repaired/checked by a PC shop. Good Luck.

Like stated above the monitor works fine, i use it on my other computer. Ive checked everything i could, i dont see no cables, ive looked for the Video switch but there is not 1. Im just stuck, ive been told leaving you compaq turned off for awhile will mess stuff up, but how.

Reseat the RAM. Test the CPU on another computer if reseating the RAM doesn't work or find another CPU to test on that computer?
Maybe try different RAM too.

This may sound stupid but..... Have you tried turning the brightness and contrast up on the monitor? Also, you stated that the PC boots up. I am sure you mean that it beeps and the Hard Drive accesses as if it's loading the OS.
Leaving your PC unplugged or turned off will not harm anything. Leave it off too long and you might wind up replacing the BIOS battery. The easiest thing to do is find a known working monitor and check to see if it is fact the PC.
Good Luck

having the same prob on my compaq 7360. checked it on a moniter that I know works, can any one help?
