I have a Compaq Presario 1520 us laptop. When I run a CPU intensive application (such as Matlab), after 5-6 minutes it shuts itself down. It is most probably an overheating issue.
Unfortunately, my warranty expired 2 weeks ago, so I can't send it to Compaq. I've looked at a couple of forums for similar problems/solutions. One suggestion was to update the BIOS, but I've checked the support site, and there is no BIOS update available for this model.
Should I have the CPU fan replaced? The fan is still working though. Before the system shuts down, it is making quite a lot of noise. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.
