I've got a problem with my laptop Compaq EVO N1020v Pentium 4 1.8 GhZ with 2 Ram DDR 256 running at 266Mhz. Yesterday I switched it off, and when I turned it on again, BIOS recognizes my processor as it was a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz and it switches back off itself after a few seconds. I couldn't manage to change BIOS settings even extracting the battery and plugging it back after 1 hour. Did any of you have my same problem, or knows how to solve it?

it seems that the cpu have beed overclocked, and then when heated up it switched off automatically..

you have to remove the overclocking from bios. if you don't know where that option is, try to load the default bios settings

I tried to do this but no results. I think it is a motherboard problem or the processor is gone -_-
