I have an old Compaq Armada 7360 laptop......yes, I know, it's a older than dirt and I should toss it, but I use it to track some finances and monitor equipment maintenance, so it works (or at least used to) for my needs. I recently tried to boot it up (while it was docked in it's ministation) and I can't get it to boot. I've undocked it and ran it on battery and on AC but it won't boot.
When I press the power button, the Cap, Scroll, and Num Lock lights light up and I get audible 4 beeps.....it's hard to tell, but I think it is 2 long and 2 short beeps (but it might be 1L and 3 S) and the 3 lights stay lit. I've looked at the Compaq trouble shooting web site and the nearest error I've found is says that the ROM is bad and that the failsafe boot block ROM is happening; I am to reflash the ROM using a downloaded ROMpaq disk/driver. I went thru the procedure and copied the ROMpaq software to a floppy, inserted it in the disk drive of the laptop, but it does not attemp to boot from the disk.
I've also pulled the hard drive and tried to reset it, but I still get the same response. I have a new Toshiba hard drive so I installed it and I get the same thing.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I have a 7710 MT, and I love it does everything I need and no need to replace it, I do remember about a reset that you could do to "slap it in the head" what I would do is open the display and hold down the micro switch that turns on the display " mine is near the right hand hinge and power switch" and then turn it on, at some point during the boot you would release the switch and that would blow the pipes clean and all was well after that, sorry I dont have it near by and I cant remember at what point you were to release the switch, maybe it was just after the LED's blink ,you may want to go back to the web site and look for something similar for your model............HTH
Keep the old stuff running

Does the LAptop have a reset? I know the HP's have a pin hole you would put a paper clip in to reset it.
