comp freezing while formating with new hd

I would download and run the manufacturer's diagnostics to make sure the HD is OK. Is this an SATA HD and what size is it ?

i have known ram that works fine in windows to cause problems when actually installing windows. if you have more than one stick in there, just try it with one stick. if still a problen, try the other stick on its own.

i have a new 80 gig wd sata drive Im runing diagnostic tools right now so far so good , havent frozen yet , it freezes randomly I have 4 ram sticks each 512 mb 2 kingstons that are pretty old and 2 new ones I got off of new egg I also have a 350 wt power supply and intel d865 perl motherboard iv been having this problem for the past 2-3 months I have a my own busness at home that I run from my comp so I really need to solve this problem and I dont wana pay anyone to tell me something I allready know or can do myself

What mode do you have for SATA in the BIOS ? Try IDE mode if it's not that way already.
