During startup...I will sometimes hear a sound...it sounds like a click and some other sound...kinda like a click followed by someother sound like it goes from low to high pitch...but its really suttle...not loud at all...and the computer Froze!....it sometimes happens during regular use...like it wont happen during startup...but like a few hours after...I thought it might be the dirt trapped on the fans...I really dunno much about the computer parts...but theres a big fan...and a small fan attached to some metal grid thing...and I cleaned out TONS of dust and dirt...hoping it will solve the problem...but during startup...I heard that sound again...but this time it didnt freeze...luckily...can some one help me out?...could it be a virus or something?

Hi,

Try this. Take the panel off the case and turn on the power. Try to listen close and find out where the clicking sound is coming from. If it is coming from the hard drive, I would say to back everything up on it and think about getting a new one.

I have heard clicking sounds coming from hard drives several different times on several different machines, and in every case the hard drive was soon dead.

Just some thoughts

That used to happen on my old computer....
yeah same story as the others above. It's the hard drive. I used to be able to bang my computer hard and then the clicking would stop and my computer would unfreeze. But i recommend copying your files to another hard drive that isn't corrupted as soon as possible, becuase after about a few weeks, it didn't matter how hard i banged on that case....
