am at present having 486 machine with a combo port, for capturing signals from the two weight machines.
these are attached to both the com ports on my machine. at present one of my com port is faulty.
i would like to know whether i can insert another combo card having a com port.
in short, two combo cards each having a com port faulty. can i insert both the cards and use one of them as com1 and the other as com2.
if yes, is there any configuration in the cmos required. the program i run is in ms dos ver 2

In bios, be sure com2 is not disabled or reserved for another serial port. Check your irqs on both devices and be sure they are different. You may want to disable com1 if you are not using it and assign it to on of the cards. Should work fine.
