i'm putting together a comp for a friend of mine and everything went smoothly. so i cleared cmos and booted the comp for the first time. i went into bios and changed a few minor things around and reboot w/ changes and all i get is a black screen with one very long beep repeating itself. the only way i can get it to post is to clear cmos everytime (even if i dont change anything in bios). i was even able to install windows on the harddrive but the same problem still persists. ive tried changing nothing in bios/loading fail-safe defaults.

Help would be greatly appreciated as my friend wants his comp soon.

ah i found out the problem on another message board. turns out the mobo was incompatible with my memory. the mobo claims "limited" compatibility with 400mhz ram and fry's recommended my friend the 400mhz ram. i told him not to get such a bad mobo but he didnt listen, heh.
