Hi everybody,
I'm trying to get this system to work and I've noticed that the changes I make in the CMOS/BIOS will reverte to the defaul, including the date, as soon as I restart the system. The changes will only stay while the system is on. As soon as I restart it, everything goes back to what it was again. I've changed the battery, but there is no change. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks a lot.

The problem you describe, suggests the cmos battery is not holding its charge.

You advise you changed the battery - is it possible you mixed them up and reinstalled the old battery, or maybe the new one is no good.

Measure the battery's voltage, out of the pc. It should be the same or slightly higher than its rating. e.g. 3V will measure 3V or 3V+

Make sure both battery contacts are good in its holder, sometimes one can lose its tension and does not make contact with the battery.

If the pc's charging circuits have failed I would expect a new battery to work for at least a month before it starts to give out.

Good luck - keep us posted.

Hi people,
Thanks for your replies.
I also thought it was the battery but this is the second battery that I change and I've just checked the new battery that I put a month ago and its charge has completely runned out, its on zeros. It is a 2032, 3V.
It seems something is running down the battery, very fast. What can it be? Any ideas?
Thanks again.

It sounds as if the charging circuit on your mobo is not working.

Is it possible the inside of your pc is dirty, and a bit of muck is shorting something out.

Again use hairdryer as described above to clean.

Good luck - keep us posted.
