Hi - I hope some one can help me with this problem. i'm sure its easy enough to figure out...

Okay, I took the power supply out of my pc and then put it back in (was just testing another PC) . When i booted up the pc the monitor was playing up so i messed around with the graphics card and sorted the problem. however before doing this i removed the Cmos jumper setting and now it laods but only gets to the start up screen where it gives you a lsit of the drives and then says...

CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded.

Press F1 to continue or Delete to enter setp

However, wehn i press F1 notthing happens.

My cpu fan slows down/stops also when i boot the machine up.

I dont know why its doing this, maybe the ram or the fact that it was overclocked has stoped it from booting up properly.

If anyone can help that would be so very much appriciated.

My Spec is as follows

AMD 64 3000 winchester
Dfi lanparty Ultra NF4 Sli
Maxtor 160 8Mb Cashe 7200 Rpm
1024 MB pc3200
6600 GT

It was overclocked to 2.7Ghz so maybe removing the Cmos was a bad idea?

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer
Aaron

you answered your own question. the checksum error is because the bios is now back to the default setting since you reset it and you had it overclocked. you need to reimplement all of the fsb/cpu multiplier settings you had prior to resetting the bios.

Unplug the power cord, move the ClearCMOS jumper to the Clear position momentarily, then move it back to the Normal position. Plug in the power, bootup, hit DEL, then correct ALL the BIOS settings....

If you continue to have problems, it could be a bad battery.
