CMOS Battery dies Quickly

I have had a problem for a few months now with my cmos battery ,
About every month I have to replace it ??
Is it just a bad bunch of batterys or is there something more to it ??
It is a P3 667mhz 256ram

could be the way you handle the battery. If you hold the better by both sides between your fingers forming a circuit between - and + it will discharge very rapid through your fingers.

Lithium batteries as used in computers should only be handled by their edges then your fingers do not form a circuit.

You might have a short somewhere. I've never had to replace a CMOS battery and some of my computers are 10 years old.

I say its a short circuit somewhere (like badboy) It is definetly not right that the battery discharges that quickly. And it is very unlikely that touching the battery at both sides would cause it to discharge that much

Believe me it will and a short circuit would drain the battery in seconds, not months not to mention the possibility of the battery overheating and exploding.
