Hi,
I would like to know what happens with the Windows SID (practically) after cloning a machine to another hardware. Is there a problem with the updates? What if the 2 machines are in the same LAN?
Thanks in advance!

The SID or SIDs, as there are many of them, have no relevance when it comes to updates and Networks. SID are only relevant to file access.

On a domain it wont be a problem as SIDs are recalculated every time a user joins a domain. On a work-group it could be a problem if two different users or user groups have the same SID as they could get access to files that are protected by another user.

However, if you are thinking of cloning a Windows installation and running it on different hardware, SID are going to be the least of your problems. Windows wont even boot if the hardware is different then the machine on which to clone was made.
