The clicking from a hard drive is serious. It means that the heads are unloading. That `usually' means that the drive is about to die.

I hope someone other than me is laughing that this post has been interpreted to mean the hard drive is making noise. The guy has told us nothing yet.

The only thing that I can think of in a PC that would click would be a fan or a hard drive.

no trust, all computers make it. its not exactly clicking, but thats the closest analogy i cud think of. i just said hard drive as an example of a component, i have no idea what causes it. thanks

The clicking sound is normal, depending on the intensity of the clicking. If it is subtle then the sound is normal. If there is loud clicks seperated by about one second then your drive is most likely bad or about to go bad. And yes Johnoh, all computers that have a hard drive make the clicking noise. Yes, on some of the computers it may be difficult to hear but the sound is still there. The arms on all hard drives still move.
