Clicking sound , on light flashing

I put in a new power unit because the computer it had started running very slowly. But now when I plug the power cord into the wall the On light comes on and there's a continuous clicking sound at the middle of the motherboard where the cpu is located with the On light flashing with each click. These aren't coded beeps. The power unit fan runs but the cpu fan doesn't come on. The On/Off button doesn't have any effect on this situation. The only way to cut it off is to unplug it from the wall. Has anyone ran into this problem before? Does it sound like a short somewhere, the cpu, motherboard? Thanks, wilmjr.

i have no idea maybe u bumped the motherboard or the on off switches or evan the fan it could be anyting

With the previous power supply the computer was slow?
Make sure all the cables are connected properly, and if you don't know how to do it, find a tech--they can usually fix this kind of thing in minutes for not much money.

Sounds like there's an overload.
Pull all the cards, memory, kbd, mouse, printer etc and try again.
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.
