Solved Clear X:disk (virtual) , B:RAM both shown as read only

January 23, 2014 at 07:49:43
Specs: Windows Vista
xp pro originally installed then vista, the latter installed on X: with Ram on B:
Hard disks C: and D: not showing in bios although they worked fine before.
How do I get rid of X: and B: so that I can do a fresh install?

Tried all ways with Hirens and various other repair disks but nothing works. Get message disks read only can't, format.
Can they be unmounted and how is this done, would this work and allow me to format?

Try deleting ALL partitions first. Then create the desired new partitions. Then format them.

Finally solved this problem - uncoupled hard drives, took out CMos battery and left overnight; result next day hard drives recognised and Vista on C:
Virtual disk X: and B:RAM have disappeared!

Hope this is of use to your readers as Microsoft and all other contacts of no help.
