Clear a Hard Drive and add it to another

Specs: Windows XP SP3
Ok, I have a spare computer that I don't need with a 320gb HD and I want to delete everything off it (I have nothing of importance whatsoever on it) and add it to my other computer to expand its storage. Both computers have Windows XP SP3. The Computer I am adding it to is a Dell E-510 and It does have the empty slot below the existing hard drive for adding another hard drive. Both drives appear to be the same design (same connectors). And from reading around, it might help to add that the Dell has an 80Gb HD, a CD drive, and a CD burner drive. How do I proceed? Do I run something on my spare computer to wipe all data or just plug it in and my Dell will bring up a screen asking what I want it to do? I'm usually good with computers but this is my first time attempting this task...

Is it IDE or SATA?

If IDE you need to check jumper master/slave setting and attach it appropriately. If SATA simply connect it.

Boot up then go into Disk Management to format the disk to erase whatever is on it.

Not a difficult task.
