I bought my Inspiron 8200 3 years ago. I do not have enough money to buy a new one yet, so I am planning on upgrading it a bit.
It still is a decent machine, here are the spec:
Pentium 4 Mobile, 2GHZ
512 DDR PC2100 (DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 256, 266, 32X64, 8K, 200)
30GB IBM HD
I would like to upgrade my ram, as it is the cheapest way of improving the system. I might choose (2 X 512M) or (2 X 1GB) upgrades depending on price...
So far, I found 2X512 going for $70 on ebay...it's a V-data 512MB (32X8) 16C PC2100 266Mhz 200PIN DDR SODIMM. I think it'll work fine, thoughts?
What are the RAM specs I should focus on to optimize performance?

Or check V-data's or Dell's website and see if this ram in compatible with your PC.
Otherwise you could be "saving" money buying something on ebay that doesn't work.
