Hello.
My computer has been freezing ever since I built it 9 months ago. At first I thought it was hardware issue. Now I believe it is software related. I specifically blame the drivers and or chipsets as causing the system freezes. Below I have listed my systems specs.(I used the program Everest to find this information/websites)System info is below in personal message
North Bridge- VIA VT8383 Apollo K8T800
AGP Version 3.05
nVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT AGP
Chipset downloads- http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2
-I downloaded the Drives Package and the 4 in 1 Driver Package 4.56 version.North Bridge: AMD Hammer IMC
-I am unsure of which drivers to download from this website. I downloaded the AMD Driver Pack and when I opened it, it said “no AMD parts found”. So does this mean I don’t need this driver? Or do I need to manually find the driver?South Bridge: VIA VT8237
-Everest gave me the same website to use as the VIA North Bridge. Is this correct? Are the south bridge and north bridge two different drivers?Looking on the VIA website I found this URL also- http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/chipsets/ I was unable to find my drivers through- even when I searched for them. Is the URL I should get my drivers from?
My video card has only one driver to download correct? According to Everest this is the website http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp. I downloaded it and installed and the video card seems to work fine.
My BIOS version is 1012.003. I went to the ASUS website and found the latest one.
I was able to ‘fix’ it the first time with an upgrade on the chipsets. Though this did not stop crashes it stopped many of them.
I recently upgraded my video card, my system started to crash quite often. Very similar to the way it crashes now although I noticed a new crash. My computer doesn’t lock up- it seems to restart but instead of restarting, the input to the monitor stops. I know the whole system is locked up (not just the monitor) because the keyboard locks up to. This did not happen before. Also what properties should be set in the BIOS? I changed my graphics aperture size to 128 from 64 because my new video card is a 128, anything else I need to change or cheek?I am sorry for the long post but I don’t want to miss anything. Thank you for taking your time to help me solve this annoying issue. Thanks a lot.

The Via driver package is all in one, so you should be fine there. The AMD Hammer IMC is the Integrated Memory Controller on the CPU. AFAIK, no special driver is needed for it.
Is there any chance you might have a heat issue with either the CPU or the northbridge chip?
Does you video card have a power connector, and if so, does it have power going to it? Have you tried boosting the memory and/or video card voltage a little?
You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling both the chipset and video card drivers. Running the Via 4 in 1 package, you'll notice that you have an option to choose uninstall for all of the drivers it installs.

Okay I will adjust the voltages for memory and video card and see what happens. Yes my vid card does have a power connector and yes power is going to it- at least it is plugged in so I would think there is power going to it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both chipset and video card with no avial.
I dont think there should be a heat issue. My mobo temp is 90F and CPU is 100F. I think those temps are fine.ASUS K8V-X
