Subject: Charge time for a new battery?
OS: Debian 4
CPU/Ram: 500mhz/256mb
Model/Manufacturer: Ibm thinkpad 600x
Comment:
Hi I just bought a new compatible battery for this notebook but not sure how long it takes to charge it for the first time. I have never bought a new battery for any notebook before so I am unfamiliar how long I should charge it for.

Didn't the battery come with any litrature? The manufacturer would be the best authority to answer that question.

No they didn't. Most of the stuff I get on ebay either doesn't come with anything or is a bad translation from an Asian language. I don't bother contacting these people anymore as they don't know enough English when you ask a question.

Then if the battery is ofthe same capacity and type as the original equipment try the website of the Laptop manufacturer or your manual should have some info on that topic. I am not a lapto user but from what I have read here each manufacturer has different policies on things like leaving the battery in place when running on AC power. Seems likely that they would have different policies on charging a new battery. If I had to guess I would say the time may be 18-24 hrs the first time.

Yes I downloaded the manual a while back but it didn't say anything about the first time you charge a battery.
I think I will go for the 18-24hrs. That makes sense to me too! Thanks
