Characters mess up

November 30, 2009 at 17:40:45
Specs: Windows XP
After my daughter played with my keyboard I found that all my Characters were messing up. I type a character, like a quote, and it waits till it sees what the next letter is and then guesses what character I really want. Example, when I try to type quote I it comes out Ï. Or for e I get Ë. Or if I use the single quote I get é. I really just want it back to normal. I've already checked every setting I could to make sure that it's set to English and the US settings on the keyboard and the control panel. What do I do?

Might be the keyboard itself. Probably best to try another one just to see.

Does it happen in all software?

The only things I've tested it in so far has been Word, Outlook, and Frontpage. It's really all I use. And of course it still happened only this site as well. I don't have a spare keyboard at the moment but I'll try to borrow one and try it out.
