Hi
Have acquired an Acer TravelMate 505 and the HD is trashed. i want to upgrade it (have the correct HD) but I cannot seem to get the back off the laptop to gain access to HD. Does anyone have an idea how to do this without breaking it? Trivial question but a real problem.

Most laptops have thier hardisks in caddys that can easily be removed, check to see if yours has one, if it does unscrew the caddy fit the new hard drive and screw it back in. Have a look on the manufacturers website for instructions on replacing the hard disk.
If your hard disk is inside the laptop not in a caddy you will need to take the laptop apart, unscrew the screws on the underneath of the laptop and you should be able to remove the keyboard and plastics.
