Hi, the cpu's cooler's fan is getting a sound like a buzzer, in day it not disturb but in the night I want to throw the pc off the window, I have another "new" cooler (complete, with the alluminium heat dissipator and all) but it was of a Prescott, and my actual processor is a Northwood. I've seen inside of cpu and the design of the two coolers is a quite different: the actual cooler is about a half inch shorter than the other (the new). It looks like is easily interchangeable, so... is that true? matters the size (high speaking) of the cooler?
Thanks

If the fan's the same size it's often a lot easier to swap them - saves messing around with paste & risking knackering the board by removing the heatsink. Just keep an eye on temps after installing as they usually run at different speeds. Remember to take the opportunity to blow dust out of the heatsink while you're there as well.

I agree. Just swap the fan, if they are the same size.
