Solved Challenge to convert wireless mouse to wired!

February 21, 2016 at 10:55:46
Specs: Windows 10
I am trying to convert a wireless mouse to a wired one without using its receiver. Was wondering if signals after being received by receiver on wireless mouse are the same as those delivered by USB on wired!

"How can a USB zap a computer??"

It's possible. Look at the image in the link below:

http://www.usb3.com/usb2-Apinout-60...

If you somehow miswired the connections (particularly 5V & GND), you could potentially damage the USB port(s), or if bad enough, take out the entire 5V line on the PC---rendering it useless...

As mentioned, concern yourself with something of greater importance; especially if you have a backup mouse and aren't an electronics technician...

Why would you even bother. You can get a decent quality Logitech or Microsoft mouse for under $10.

There is a risk you might zap your computer.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

As the USB function is built in to the receiver, rather than the mouse, you are going to have to be quite an electronics whizz, and a dab hand at soldering, to get this working. Let us know how it goes.

Or you could just superglue the receiver to the mouse and plug a USB extension cable into it.
