Comment:

My cd-writer drawer fails to open shortly after boot-up is completed. It works fine whilst booting but then dies. I have checked & used different power connections & re-installed the driver but the problem persists, has anyone any ideas?
Any advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

Which cd burning software are you using? Do you have files waiting to be written?
