Comment: Got a CD burner and a DVD-ROM on secondary IDE channel. CDwriter is set to master, DVD ROM is set to slave. Works fine.... When I reverse the settings, make DVD master, and CD burner slave, the computer starts up, recognized the devices, then restarts itself. Go's in an endless loop... What gives ?? Thanks in advance. Reply: (edit)if all works fine with DVD as slave and cd-rw as master, why not leave it like that and be happy?

Reply: (edit)I was going to install a DVD+-RW and make it the master, as recommended by mftr. When I installed it had same error. Thinking I had a bad DVD+-RW, I removed it and connected old DVD ROM back as master, then same problem. So, I went back to old setting as DVD ROM as slave, then it works. Just baffled as to why system reboots when DVD is set to master. Wanted to place the faster DVD+-RW device set to master.

Reply: (edit)I'm baffled as to why the manufacturer suggested installing the DVD+-RW as master. There is not performance difference between master and slave.

Reply: (edit)I guess DVD ROM (or DVD writer) should be set to slave. Any other reasons as to why this is happening ?? Thanks all..
