i just got a new 53x32x52x cdrw (buslink LTR-52327S) and it was working fine yesterday. but now it will not burn at max speed, it will only go to a max of 16x. the even weirder thing was that at one point today after i rebooted into windows, i burned 1 cd at 52x and then when i went to burn a second, it would only burn at 16x. i think that there is something wrong with my hard drives, i dont think it has anything to do with the cd-rw hardware. the reason is because i also got a new hard drive... i have music on the new drive, and when i coppied it over to my old drive, and tried burning it, that is when it got to 52x that one time. any help would be appreciated. thanks

How is your hardware configured?

Does it look like this?

Primary master old HDD
Primary slave new HDD
Secondary Master CDRW
Secondary slave none

Or like this?

Primary master old HDD
Primary slave none
Primary master New HDD
Primary slave CDRW

What kinds of media where you using? CD-RWs can't burn very fast at all...was that one that went at 16x speed a CD-RW? If not I don't know what the hey's going on. Also, if you're using Roxio's CD burning software, I know that the version that came with my CD-RW drive likes to burn slower than it is actually capable of. I hope this helps.

The media has to be rated 52X also.
