I posted a couple of days ago about a burner I have that isn't working(Lite-On). Finally got them to e-mail me, but they say they can't help with anything.
I got the burner installed in a different CPU running Win 98. The other computer I ran it on (Win XP) did the same thing as now: the drive will read discs, but won't write/burn. I don't know anything about cleaning drives, but I don't understand why it would read but not write. Only had the drive about 18 months, probably less than 100 CD's burned, so it's not been used much. Any ideas? Thanks.

Was it working on the present system and then suddenly quit? Or were there some changes made to the system?

It was doing the same thing on the original system. I could read CD's, but burning with any burning program would result in nothing. So after checking IDE connections, etc., I tried it in the second system and after getting it recognized and set up, it still reads but won't burn.
Summary: the cd drive will read cd's (text, pics, audio) but I can't record onto a new disc. every time I try it says "please insert a disc into drive d:". there already is a cd in the drive, then I click "ok"...
