I have a Toshiba A35-S1592 laptop running XP Home with service packs 1 & 2 installed that I use mainly for home and office work and, a desk PC running XP Pro that I use for the Internet and games.
I have been backing up the files on my laptop using some old (3 years) CD-RW discs and have been having no problems. I have been using the drag and drop method through Windows Explorer. The other day I decided to replace the discs with some new CD-RW media, as I was a little concerned that the old discs might not last much longer after such a length of time.
My problem now is that I find that my laptop will not copy onto the new discs using Windows Explorer! If I try the same discs in my desk PC I have no problems but, if I try to erase the new discs in my laptop after using them in my PC, no go.
Before posting this I had one more try, still no go. Then I noticed that the old discs are marked 1X-4X and the new discs are marked 16X-24X although the covers only state up to 24X.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Found the answer at the site you listed.
It explains about media speeds and it appears that my laptop speed is not fast enough for the media I am trying to burn.
Thanks
