I am using a CyberDrive CW078D CDRW drive and I cannot get the drive bay to open. The green light on the front of the drive flashes and then it sounds like the drive is trying to open but then it stops. It looks like it is trying to open as well but then it won't. It does this anytime I press the eject button on the front of the drive or right click "eject" under My Computer.
I have turned the system off and been able to use a paper clip in the emergency open slot and got it open, however, when I left it open for it to close back automatically, I was still having the same problem. It didn't have a CD in it.
In My Computer and Device Manager, it says the drive is working properly. It is able to detect it in the BIOS just fine. I have also tried reattaching both the IDE and power cables on the back of the drive and had no luck.
I have tried to contact tech support about this drive but I have waited for about a week without any sort of response.
I have also updated the firmware as far as I can (I say that because the "updated" firmware available keeps telling me it is for a different model than what it is labeled as) on the drive.
I have had this problem before but it spontaneously quit having problems for some reason on that occasion.
If there is anybody that has had any sort of experience with this kind of problem I would greatly appreciate any sort of suggestions as to how to solve this problem. I have not had any other issues with my computer that may be in relation to power and I also have a DVD-ROM drive that is the master drive on the same secondary IDE cable as the writer that I have not had any problems with yet. I have not tried to open the actual inside of the drive or anything like that because I wouldn't know what to look for even if I did.
